About REP:  The Register of Exercise Professionals was set up in January 2002 to create a framework within which all individual instructors in the fitness industry can achieve the highest standards of professionalism linked to best practice in the exercise and fitness sector.  The REP is a not-for-profit organisation; it exists purely to raise standards and qualification in the fitness industry.  Backed by the government, it is widely supported by trade bodies, training providers and suppliers throughout the fitness industry.  For more information, visit the REP website at www.exerciseregister.org.

Once on the register, members are required to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date.  This is called Continuing Professional Development (CPD).  This is achieved by attending relevant training, workshops, seminars, etc. or by completing a new qualification.
